Youth, 19, found dead

Funeral services will be Wednesday for a Media youth, an apparent suicide, whose body was found Saturday in a wooded area of Montgomery County.

P. Roland Roberts, 19, son of Mrs. Jean M. Roberts and the late Percy R. Roberts, of 113 E. 3rd St., was discovered by state police from the Limerick Barracks after a neighbor notified them he felt something was wrong.

They found the body inside a house owned by his step-mother, Sara Jane Roberts on Mill Hill Road, Upper Hanover Township, one mile north of the town of Palm.

He was shot in the chest with a .30-.30-cal. rifle, police said: The Montgomery County coroner's office said a note was found, indicating he was despondent over family trouble.

Police said both his mother and step-mother were vacationing and some confusion resulted in contacting them about the youth's death, but they were aided by state police in the states they were visiting.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the J. Nelson Rigby Funeral Home, Baltimore Ave. and Jackson Sts., Media. Burial will be in the Middletown Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Calling hours will be tonight at the funeral home.

I've thought about Roland from time to time, while going through the chores of my life. No matter how Roland was feeling on any given day back then, when he saw me coming down the hall, he always had a big smile and a quick "wink" for me. I used to look forward to that wink! He cheered me up. I just wish I could have done the same for him...We all miss you, buddy, and wish you could have been around for this. (WINK!)

Roland and I dated for a while and had quite a few classes together. He even asked me to the senior prom. Whoa! I'll never forget when he came to school in the middle of the year. He was a new kid in class and he was georgeous. I probably fell in love with him the minute I first saw him. I think I was the most luckiest girl in the world when he asked me to go to the prom with him. What a great guy he was. He was an absolute gentleman before his time. I think about Roland all the time.
At one point in my life I lived on Elywn Avenue right down the street where he was buried. I used to walk my Golden Retreiver to the graveyard and stop by to see his headstone and cry my eyes out. I miss him and still do to this day. I will always love you Roland. I miss you dearly and looking forward to someday seeing you in heaven.

I would talk to him every day that I walked home from Rose Tree. He was a kind person.
